PMBA will ensure secure bus operation:Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Punjab Metro Bus Authority has been set up to provide modern and comfortable transport facilities to the people across the province. The Authority , and it will also be responsible for making effective security arrangements of the Metro Bus Project. He said that a modern system is being introduced to keep the route of the Metro bus service clean, and an agreement is being signed with the Lahore Waste Management System for this purpose. An effective system has been designed to stop entry of unconcerned persons and general vehicles to the Metro Bus Route, and huge fine will be imposed on violators. The Metro Bus Service is a great public welfare project which is being completed rapidly.

The Chief Minister expressed these views while presiding over the first meeting of Metro Bus Authority here today, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Chairman Lahore Transport Company Kh. Ahmed Hassan, Chairman Planning & Development, Managing Director Punjab Metro Bus Authority, secretaries of Finance and Transport were present. The Managing Director Punjab Metro Bus Authority gave a detailed briefing to the Chief Minister. During the meeting, the Chief Minister approved budget and posts for the authority, and formed a recruitment committee.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif directed the Metro Bus Authority should be operated in a professional way because Punjab government has launched the Metro Bus Project to provide fast and comfortable public transport facilities to the masses, and wanted to expand it to other cities. He said due to the Metro Bus Service, the people will cover long distances in short time. He said Turkey completed metro bus project in two and a half years, but the Punjab government will complete it in the duration less than one year. He said that Punjab government has paid attention to transparency and high standards in the Metro Bus Project like all other projects, and every penny of the national exchequer is being spent on the public welfare and development. He ordered transparent recruitments in the Punjab Metro Bus Authority, and said no pressure in this regard should be accepted. The Chief Minister said that the performance of the officers working on this project is commendable and the completion of this mega project in a short time is a historic one.

Addressing the meeting, Special Assistant Zaeem Qadri said that the people have attached great expectations to this project. He said that the Chief Minister has made possible an impossible task due to which the opponents have been silenced. He said a new beautiful face of Lahore is emerging with the Metro Bus Project which is the result of hard work and team work. He prayed that Allah Almighty give Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif more opportunities to serve the masses.
