Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said that Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari were equally responsible for the economic slaughter of people of Pakistan. The tsunami of change would sweep away plunderers of national wealth, feudal lords and the discriminatory system.
Addressing different public gatherings held here on the launch of his mass contact drive, Imran Khan said that even all government parties could not stop the tsunami of change. He promised that his party would introduce a new foreign policy, ensure justice to all segments of society where the poor and feudal would be treated in the same manner and the provision of basic amenities like education, health, employment would be responsibility of the state. He promised to bring to book the killers of PPP Chairwoman Benazir Bhutto, stating that the UN report had also indicated that some insiders were involved in Benazir’s assassination.
Holding Punjab government responsible for chaos and deterioration in Punjab, Imran Khan said that Nawaz Sharif ruled Punjab Province for over 25 years but did nothing for the poor. He said that Nawaz-Zardari alliance was continuing for the past five years and they had done nothing for the poor.
“Nawaz helped Zardari’s rule for five years. Now he is claiming to take his turn and rule the poor of Pakistan. The people now know his real face and they won’t allow him to continue the fake fight between PPP and PML-N. Nawaz Sharif ruled Punjab for 25 years and also served as prime minister twice but he did nothing for the poor. What change he is claiming to bring in his new Pakistan,” argued Imran Khan, adding that like an incapable man, Nawaz was in a habit to copying the slogans raised by the PTI.
Flanked by PTI leaders Javed Hashmi, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Jahangir Khan Tareen, Shafqat Mahmoood and others, Imran Khan said that the small farmers were badly hit due to the anti-poor policies of the government and prices of urea, pesticides and other commodities had been increased time and again. He said that continued load shedding had furthered the problems of the small farmers and the lack of water had spoiled agriculture sector.
The PTI chief advised Nawaz Sharif to change his behavior if he was really sincere in bringing about a change in Pakistan.
“There are only 20 guards for Queen of UK but 1260 policemen have been escorting Sharif family. With thousands of guards and Raiwind Palace to live in, Nawaz Sharif behaves like a Mughal emperor,” Imran Khan remarked. He asked Nawaz Sharif to share the details of assets and tax returns of his entire family with the people of Pakistan and bring his all wealth in Pakistan if he believed in a new Pakistan.
Imran Khan specifically pointed towards the youngsters present in the public meeting in a large number and said that the youth were the real ambassadors of the change process. He lauded the role of Insaf Students Federation (ISF) in holding the public meeting, asking the youth to go to towns and cities and spread the word of change.
“Youngsters are very intelligent. They would accept laptops from Punjab government but would vote for PTI candidates as they strongly believe in change,” he maintained. Javed Hashmi, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen also addressed.
