Supreme Court should take notice of Pb. Govt. rigging in the bye-elections:Governor Punjab

Lahore: In the recent bye-elections the way Election Commission laws have been flagrantly violated and the election process polluted it has repeated the history of 1990, I request the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Election Commission of Pakistan to take immediate notice of this election process based in violence and rigging because the spirit of the Constitution provides for transparent elections.
This was stated by Punjab Governor Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa during meeting with a delegation of the office-bearers of the Lahore Photo Journalists Association which called on him at the Governors’ House here today. The delegation was headed by President of the body Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry.

The Governor said that he has always stated in quite categorical words that the Parliament is the supreme body and all other institution are under it, Parliament is like a mother of all institutions and nobody can humiliate it. He said he has not said anything which in any way, God-forbid, negate the Parliament or democracy in any manner, our entire struggle is for the supremacy of the parliament and continuation and stability of democracy.

The Governor said that in a meeting of the party in Multan, he was asked as to why he did not prevent rigging in the recently held by-elections to which he had responded in the same context.
The Governor that the Chief Minister Punjab do not recognize even the President of the country and the language he uses in leveling allegations against the President of Pakistan every other day is not hidden from any one, if the Prime Minister of the country comes then he is not given protocol in the Punjab to which he entitled constitutionally and legally. He said that no state norms are kept in view regarding giving protocol to the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The Governor said that Raza Rabbani is personal friend, he has an important in the strengthening of democracy and democratic institutions, we all are trustees of joint struggle for stability of democracy and supremacy of the parliament. He said that strength of the democratic institutions ensures survival and stability to the State and the government.

He said that he would request the Supreme Court that if notice of one slap of Waheeda Shah is taken then the apex court should also take immediate notice of what had happened in the recent bye-elections and should also take notice on priority basis what harassment, violence and rigging has been showed by the eye of the cameras and newspapers.
Talking to the Lahore Photo Journalists Association delegation on the occasion said that the photographers place the entire situation about happenings in the society before the people through the eyes of their cameras. He said they also have the same role in stability of democracy and end of dictatorship like others.

The Governor has called for report immediately from the IG Police Punjab regarding the regretful incident with a local photographer. The Governor also accepted all other demands of the Association and issued orders to the officials concerned for implementation.
