PEF gives vouchers to children of brick-kiln for education

Lahore: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has extended its education voucher scheme (EVS) to the children of brick-kiln workers. This project is aimed to provide the facility of gratis education to maximum number of hapless children. 200 vouchers have already been distributed in Lahore’s Jallo Morr area in the first phase.

Chairman Punjab Education Foundation, Raja Anwar stated this during his meeting with a group of brick-kiln workers at Jallo Morr on Friday. PEF-Director (EVS) Ms. Maleeha Batool and other officers were also present on the occasion.

Raja Anwar congratulated the brick-kiln workers for sending their children to schools and said that it will help to save them from the cruelties of child labor. He said that PEF will provide monthly fee and text books, so they will not be burdened in any way. The beauty of EVS is the facility to choose a school of choice, he maintained. He said that EVS is also very helpful for girls by arranging their education in nearby schools as they couldn’t go to far off areas for education due to lack of resources.

On the occasion, brick-kiln families thanked the PEF for arranging the facility of free education for their children and said it will help to root out illiteracy in their families.

Earlier, PEF-Director EVS briefed the Chairman about various facets of the scheme.
