Lahore: The regular communication between police and public not only helps control crimes but also improve the sense of security among the people. This is because of public support that the police have successfully downgraded the over all crimes rate in the province.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman stated this while presiding over a high-level meeting held in Rahim Yar Khan to review the law and order situation. On the first-leg of his visit to Southern Punjab, the IGP reached Rahim Yar Khan today. RPO Bahawalpur Rao Sardar Ali Khan, DPO Rahim Yar Khan Sohail Zafar Chatha, and SP Investigation Sheraz Nazir were also present on this occasion besides other senior officers.
The provincial police chief urged the officers to remain vigilant and ensure strict and foolproof security like the police done during Muharram because now it is also responsibility of the police to fight terrorism apart from normal policing.
Later, the IGP addressed an open-court in Rahim Yar Khan, where he listened to the problems of a number of complainants and issued on-the-spot orders for the redressal of their genuine grievances.
On the complaint of a local citizen, the IGP dismissed Inspector Muslim Zia from service on the charges of negligence.
While talking to media persons on this occasion, the IGP said that black sheep in police department would never be tolerated. The IGP also assured media persons that the journalists would be provide security and protection so that they would be able to carry out their professional work without any fear.
Meanwhile, IGP Punjab awarded cash prizes of Rs 100,000 to DPO Rahim Yar Khan Sohail Zafar Chatha and Rs 10,000 each to DSP Mahmood and SHO Jamshaid Shah for their outstanding performance.
