SOPs for rodent control in govt hospitals

Lahore: Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, has said that a comprehensive programme has been chalked out throughout the province to rid all government hospitals of rodents, bugs, cats and stray dogs. The health depart has issued written instructions in this regard to all the principals of government medical colleges, MSs of hospitals and EDOs health of all districts. They have been instructed to submit their compliance certificate regarding effective implementation of approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) within 3 days.

Kh. Salman Rafique said that the sad incident which took place at Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi would not be allowed to be repeated, whereas clear instructions have been issued to the administrations of all government hospitals in this regard. Kh. Salman Rafique said that Chief Minister Punjab has taken serious cognizance of deplorable incident of rodent of new born baby in Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi, and has directed to rectify the situation and improve the condition by taking necessary steps in this regard. The Special Assistant said that senior doctors and other staff accused of negligence have already been suspended. He directed that all hospitals would undertake eradicating activities for rodent control, at least twice a month, while a designated officer would be appointed as a focal person who would submit a certificate in this regard of ensuring rodent free atmosphere in the hospitals on fortnightly basis. He directed all hospitals to ensure implementation of standard operating procedure regarding ensuring sanitation of all government hospitals.
