Islamabad: A six member delegation of the Jamaat e Islami, led by the Justice rtd Fakhrud Din G. Ibrahim, in his office in the federal capital, on Wednesday.
The delegation presented the JI case for election symbol, for a code of conduct for elections and its effective enforcement to stop pre poll rigging and the correction of voters lists all over the country.
The delegation included the JI Islamabad chief Mian Muhammad Aslam and other party leaders.
The JI Secretary General impressed upon the CEC that the registration of voters all over the country was the responsibility of the EC. He said that the large scale change of votes in Karachi against the voters consent was a great injustice which must be undone. He said the preparation of correct and transparent electoral lists was essential to restore the people’s confidence in elections and the democratic process. The delegation also presented documentary evidence of pre poll rigging to the CEC.
The CEC appreciated the JI s suggestions for the code of conduct, and pre poll rigging and the voters lists. He assured the delegation that the EC would take every lawful measure in this regard. He said the JI demand for grant of scale as election symbol would be considered after proper hearing.
