Lahore: In order to celebrate success in controlling dengue virus this year, besides holding of international dengue conference by Health Department Punjab on 10th and 11th of November, the next Friday will be observed as thanks giving day and Auqaf Department will make special arrangements in the mosques for this purpose.
Addressing a meeting for finalizing arrangements for the holding of international dengue conference, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Kh. Salman Rafique, said that the general public extended fullest cooperation in controlling dengue and took an active part in the cleanliness campaign. He said that Town Response Committees have rendered invaluable services for the eradication of dengue at town and UC level and public representatives will arrange functions at the town level for thanking the people and encouragement of workers. He said that seminars will also be held at colleges and big schools for expressing gratitude to the teachers, students and their parents in this regard. Similarly, Social Welfare Department will also arrange a walk.
The meeting was given a detailed briefing regarding the arrangements of the two day international dengue conference by the secretaries and senior officers of health, education, district government, information and culture, environment, agriculture departments, PHA, PITB, Special branch and other concerned departments. Kh. Salman Rafique directed all departments to give a final shape to the arrangements by November 5.Secretary Health Arif Nadeem informed that inaugural session of the international dengue conference will be held on November 10 at 10.00 am at Aiwan-e-Iqbal. Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will be the chief guest and award prizes to the outstanding performers in the campaign against dengue. Secretary Health further informed that besides foreign medical experts, Ambassadors and Consul Generals of these countries have also been invited. He said that technical session of the conference will be held in the afternoon of 10th November and on 11th November at Chief Minister’s Secretariat 90-Shahra-e-Quaid-e-Azam and group discussion will also be arranged. Later, the recommendations and the results of the conference will be documented. Members Punjab Assembly from Lahore, Secretaries of Health, Labour, Irrigation, Forests, Environment, Cooperatives, Agriculture Departments, Special Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, Senior officers of District Government Lahore, PHA, WASA, DIG Special branch and representatives of other departments were present.
