Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has directed the police to discharge its duties with a sense of responsibility in order to ensure help, assistance and justice to the common man. He said no country can progress nor a peaceful society can be created without provision of prompt and affordable justice and ensuring protection of right of the aggrieved, helpless and down trodden segment of the society. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif vowed that elimination of crimes from the province and making it a bastion of peace is his mission which will be achieved at all cost. He announced prizes for the police officers who arrested the accused involved in Badami Bagh murder case, while ordered arrest of those police officers who displayed dishonesty and negligence in a drug recovery case, alongwith initiating strict action against them.
The Chief Minister was talking to the complainants from various districts at Model Town today. Member National Assembly Pervaiz Malik, IG Punjab, Secretary Prosecution and senior officers of police were also present. Taking notice of the complaints, the Chief Minister issued on-the-spot instructions for the redressal of the grievances of the complainants.
Addressing police officers, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that open courts should regularly be held at district level and police officers should utilize all their capabilities to ensure provision of justice to the people. He said in order to put the country on the road progress and prosperity, the culture of injustice, coercion and highhandedness has to be eliminated. He said police officers and institutions should play their due role in ensuring rule of law and predominance of justice. He warned that no negligence or laxity would be tolerated in ensuring solution of problems and providing assistance to the people. Appreciating DSP Abid Hussian and Inspector Shabbir Ahmed for arresting the accused involved in a double murder case in Badami Bagh, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif announced for them a prize of rupees two lakh and one lakh respectively. The Chief Minister also ordered arrest of concerned police officers for dishonesty and dereliction of duty with regard to 92 kilograms drugs recovered from culprits and said that necessary legal action be taken against them, while a report be submitted to him, after complete investigation, within one week. He said police officers performing their duties efficiently and honestly would be encouraged while negligent police officers would not be tolerated in the department. A woman from Nankana Sahib accompanied by her family, met the Chief Minister and informed that her son has been detained by the police for the last three months while a fake case of one kilogram narcotics has been registered against him.
The Chief Minister directed IG Punjab to hold inquiry into the matter, and if the case is proven wrong, strict legal action should be taken against the responsible police officers, in addition to submitting a report to him. On the application of the affected family, the Chief Minister directed to make arrangements for enabling the accused to celebrate Eid day with his family members. Ordering police to arrest the culprits involved in a double murder case within one week. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif assured provision of justice to the affected family.
