Punjab Youth Festival successfully moving ahead

LAHORE: The Provincial Level of the Punjab Youth Festival 2012 is successfully heading towards in final phase as the young people are showing their great interest and enthusiasm in the sports and non-sports events.

On Wednesday, all the activity of the festival was staged at Expo Center in which apart from general public, students of schools, colleges and universities winners of their categories of all the nine divisions including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan have assembled in Lahore to compete in sports and non-sporting events of Painting, Photography, Essay Writing (Urdu and English), Naat Khanni, Qirat, Cultural Models, Dress Show and Cultural Projects while Gaming Arcade 2012 competitions were introduced in this provincial level which have games like Counter Strike, FIFA 11 and Need for Speed Most Wanted.

The sports events of Festival will start formally from October 19 while the full dress rehearsal of the human mosaic and largest human flag will be held on the same day to create the Guinness World Record at the National Hockey Stadium and the following day the opening ceremony will mark formal the start of the Provincial level.

In all 13 individual events will be attempted for Guinness World Record at Expo Centre during the next three days. These events include fastest chess game, baking chapatis in less time, wearing maximum number of T-shirts, maximum pushups, maximum strokes in one minute and placing maximum number of electric switches.

However, in the sixth stage of the festival painting competition at college level, Lahore’s Iqra was placed first, Rawalpindi’s Sundas was second and Gujranwala’s Sabiha was third.

In dress show, Rawalpindi’s Aysia Shahbaz was first, Gujranwala’s Manahil was second and Dera Ghazi Khan’s Asma was third in the secondary school competition.

In college level, Saba Lahore College for Home Economic and Hiba Sohail of Multan were first and second respectively and in the university level, Sobai Altaf got the first position and Ribai Aziz and Sana Batool were second and third. All these three girls were of Bahauddin Zakriya University and the boys of the same university namely Adnan Chaudhary, Osana Masood and Osama Farooq were the first three positions. Meanwhile, the Gaming Arcade 2012, Counter Strike, Gaming Arcade 2012, FIFA 11 and Gaming Arcade 2012, Need for Speed Most Wanted would be held at Expo Center from 11 am to 9 pm at Expo Center till October 25.
