Lahore: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Food, Muhammad has said that Punjab has played an important role in the stability of prices of rice, flour and sugar and no increase will be made in the prices of sugarcane and wheat in future as well. Provision of cheaper and quality flour is the top priority of Punjab Chief Minister, he added.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony regarding World Food Day at Flour Mills Association Auditorium Shadman arranged by Punjab Food Department, the other day. Secretary Food Irfan Ali, Director Food Dr. Usman, DG Food Authority, Chairman Pakistan Flour Mills Association, office-bearers and officers of Food Department were also present on the occasion.
While addressing on the occasion, Mansha Ullah Butt said that World Food Day is observed on October 16 and its purpose is to ensure availability of food to the people. Secretary Food informed that there are 42 lakh ton wheat stocks with the department this year which are enough for the needs of the next year. He informed that Punjab Food Authority was set up last year and its scope will be extended to other districts of Punjab in the coming days.
Mansha Ullah Butt further said that Pakistan especially Punjab has been blessed by Almighty Allah with a number of bounties. Best fruit, vegetable, rice and sugarcane are produced in the country and there is no shortage of edible items. He said that Punjab Chief Minister has announced provision of incentives and loans to the farmers for their betterment and enhancing their agri production.
