Rescue services should be available to tehsil level:Zulifqar Khosa

Lahore: Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that the offices of Punjab Emergency Services Rescue 1122 have been established in all districts of the province, while, keeping its utility in view its scope is being extended upto . He said that in the first phase these offices are being set up in tehsils of 12 big districts of the province. He said that, due to the performance of Punjab Emergency Service, technical assistance is being provided to other provinces for establishment of this service including KPK, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit, Baltistan and Karachi so that every individual can be provided relief through rescue service in time of emergency.

He stated this while addressing a ceremony held in connection with completion of eight years of Rescue 1122 service at PCSRK auditorium here today. Renowned columnist and analyst Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Director General Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue-1122) Dr. Rizwan Naseer and other officers were also present on the occasion.

Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that, after the general elections of 2008, when Punjab government of PML-N took charge, rescue service was limited to 12 districts of the province only, however, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has now increased its areas throughout the province. Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that the role of Punjab Emergency Service during accidents and natural calamities is exemplary and unprecedented in SAARC countries. He said that after Army, Rescue -1122 has become second biggest institution to combat difficult situations. He assured that Punjab government would continue its all out assistance in order to further strengthen the institution aimed at public welfare and service.

In his eight years’ performance report, Rescue 1122, Director Gneral informed that so far Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 has extended help to more than 15 lakh people in the time of emergency. Later, DG informed Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa about the utility of emergency service and showed him the instruments being used in case of any emergency. On the occasion of completion of eight years of Punjab Emergency Service Recue 1122 a cake was cut while prizes and certificates were distributed among the personnel who showed professional capabilities during rescue challenge competition.
