Lahore: Accident and crime black spots should be identified and comprehensive strategies should be evolved in order to reduce the ratio of fatalities on highways and provide safe journey to the commuters said National Highways & Motorway Police N-5 Central DIG Rai Altaf Hussain while holding a high level meeting of senior officials here in Lahore. The SSP Mirza Faran Baig, SSP GhulamJafar, SSP Inam ur Rehman Malik were also present on the occasion.
DIG N-5 central Rai Altfa Hussain directed all the SSPs/Sector Commanders to ensure feedback from the road users as interactive approach with the general public is the need of time. In this regard they have been asked to devise a Proforma in which public comments can be sought regarding dealing of officers while providing assistance to the road users or issuing penalty tickets to them on the violation of traffic rules. The DIG further directed to share official email id and specified contact number with the road users so that they may pass their comments and suggestions at their ease. He asked the officers to take special interest in making this mechanism successful as it will help a lot in improving the professional working of NH&MP.
DIG Rai Altaf directed the SSPs to personally patrol on the highways and make surprise visits of their respective zones to assess the performance of patrolling officers. DIG stressed the need of enhanced security arrangements for all official buildings, weapons and patrolling vehicles of motorway police. DIG directed that in order to cope with any unwanted situation the SSPs should arrange elite training sessions for the patrolling officers. He further asked them to ensure strict and equal enforcement against traffic rules violations to bring discipline on highways. DIG advised the senior officers to look after problems of field officers especially in terms of home posting, mess, living conditions .
