Officers to adopt austerity: Senator Zulfiqar Khosa

Lahore: Senior Advisor to Chief Minister, Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has directed all officers, throughout the province, to operate their offices with austerity and simplicity, and ensure their expenditure, in accordance with existing resources.

He gave these directions, while presiding over 31st meeting of Austerity Committee, with regard to development expenditures, here today. Members National and Provincial Assembly, Secretaries of different department, Commissioners, DCOs and other officers were present on the occasion. During the meeting approval was granted for purchase of new vehicles, motorcycles, computers, scanners and office equipment for the newly-formed division of Sahiwal. Director General Information Technology informed the meeting that as many as 1500 mobile phones have been purchased, in connection with anti-dengue campaign, and handed over to the officers and officials of district governments and Health Department to enable them to perform their anti-dengue duties in an effective manner. He further informed that girl and boy students are seeking admission in the Information Technology University, set up at Arfa Kareem IT Park for which furniture, labs, 120 desk-top computers and other necessary equipment are required. Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa directed him to discuss with the representatives of Finance Department for removal of some objections, raised in connection with certain items.

Furthermore, approval for purchase of new vehicles and other necessary office equipment was granted during the meeting for Town Municipal Administration Jhang, Industries and Commerce Department, Education (Colleges) and the Police Department. The suggestions and proposals of Environment Department, Health, Labour, Agriculture, Housing, and Urban Development and Schools Education Departments were deferred, till the next meeting, due to absence of the secretaries of concerned departments.
