Relief items are being regularly supplied to flood affectees:DG PDMA

Lahore: Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Mujahid Sherdil has said that relief items are being regularly supplied to flood affectees of Dera Ghazi Khan and Ranjanpur and 2280 metric ton edible items have so far been provided to the calamity-stricken people. He said that some shortsighted elements are engaged in negative propaganda that flood hit people are being ignored which is baseless. He said that district administration, assembly members, heads of welfare organizations as well as local people are distributing relief items among the genuine flood affectees and by issuing baseless statements, such elements are doing no service to the calamity stricken people. He said that such people should supplement the efforts of the government for the help and assistance of the flood affectees in this hour of trial.

Mujahid Sherdil said that 88143 bags of dry ration, 36000 bags of rice, 37000 atta bags, 15000 blankets, 7319 tents and 45000 mineral water bottles sent through 285 trucks, have been distributed among the flood affectees at 40 flood relief camps and residents of inundated areas. He said that relief items are also being supplied by divisional and district administration. He said that flood affectees and their cattle are also being provided medical facilities by Health and Livestock Departments while there is an abundant stock of medicines which is being used in the time of need.
