Lahore: German Ambassador in Pakistan Dr Cyrill Nunn called on Pakistan Muslim League senior central leader and Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi here today and exchanged views with him about bilateral relations, future line of action and situation in the region.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Germany which is an important member of the European Union. He said Germany is a developed country in the fields of education, industry and technology and Pakistan wants to benefit from Germany’s experiences in these fields. He said Pakistan is a developing country and there are vast opportunities for investment here.
Regarding the situation arising from the making of blasphemous film, Ch Parvez Elahi said that Islam is a religion of peace and orders respects for all sacred matters of other religions. He said for ensuring and maintaining peace in the world, it is essential that sentiments of believers of every religion should be respected and religious hatred should not be spread.
Ch Parvez Elahi said in natural calamities, German govt and people have greatly helped Pakistan. He stressed the need for taking more steps for access to the European markets for Pakistani products and said that this is the best return for services of Pakistan in the recent war.
The German Ambassador said on the occasion that Pakistan is located in difficult region of the world and is an important country for Germany, Pakistan services for world peace are unforgettable. He expressed sympathy over the loss of precious human lives and properties of Pakistan in the war on terror and assured his country’s full assistance. He said that those spreading religious hatred are enemies of world peace.
