Lahore: Chairman Lahore Transport Company and Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister, Khawaja Ahmad Hassan has said that LTC will reorganize urban routes of the city so that citizens could reach the stations of bus rapid transit system and evolve a comprehensive mechanism for the development of feeder routes to facilitate the people in reaching other parts of the city. He said that LTC has developed connectivity with adjacent cities of Lahore and new A.C. buses of International standard have been plied from Lahore to Raiwind, Sheikhupura, Maraka, Kasur and other areas. In addition to old buses, LTC succeeded in plying 410 new buses on various routes of the city, he added.
This was stated by him while addressing a meeting held to review the performance of LTC at C.M. Secretariat, here today. The meeting was attended by Vice chairman LTC Mehar Ishtiaq, Acting Chief Executive Officer LTC, Amjad Hussain. G.M. (F) Mariam Khawar, Dy. G.M. (Ops) Tanveer Siddiqi, Manager (Operations & Planning), Huma Daha, Senior Manager (F) Zafar Ahmad Qureshi and Manager (Ops) Faisal Nisar.
Kh. Ahmad Hassan said that as many as 30 urban routes have been made operational in the city. He said that LTC is implementing comprehensive plan of action to provide efficient transport facilities to residential localities far from the city in an integrated manner. He said that new buses have been made operational from Allama Iqbal International Airport to Valencia. He said that a comprehensive plan has been evolved to provide efficient bus service from Bahria Town to Shaukat Khanam, Green Town to General Bus Stand and Railway station to Thokar Niaz Baig at the earliest. He said that LTC is executing student green card scheme in an effective manner and special cell has been established for the same. He said that student green card scheme is being executed in collaboration with the educational institutions.
He directed the LTC Management to facilitate the students in issuance of student green card. He said that senior citizens and special persons have been given the facility of free transport in the city. He said that LTC free transport cards are being issued to the senior citizens and special persons in a smooth manner. He appreciated the efforts of LTC management in this connection. Private transport companies are extending full cooperation in implementing the scheme launched for the senior citizens and special persons, he added. He said that in line with the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, LTC has made strenuous efforts for eradication of Dengue from bus terminals, bus stands and bus stops throughout the city.
He said that a number of LTC teams has been constituted for conducting inspections and cleanliness drive in Lahore. He said that LTC enforcement staff has played a key role in maintaining the standard of cleanliness in the buses.
