Mayo Hospital Lahore signed MOu with Alzheimer’s Pakistan

Lahore: A memorandum of understanding was signed between Mayo Hospital Lahore and Alzheimer’s Pakistan today at Mayo Hospital for the establishment of Dementia Clinic at the Out Patients Department of the Hospital. Alzheimer’s Pakistan is the national organization of Alzheimer’s and related dementias in Pakistan. The main objective of this Non-Government organization is to work towards the welfare of people suffering from dementia and their care givers. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia.

The dementia clinic will provide specialized care and services to the Alzheimer’s and related dementia cases patients.

The MoU was signed by Dr Zahid Pervaiz on behalf of MHL and by Mr Hussain Jafri on behalf of Alzheimer’s Pakistan. Mr. Frank Schaper from Alzheimer’s Australia and Dr. Ali Hashmi from MHL/KEMU signed the MoU as witnesses.

The dementia clinic is first of its kind in Pakistan and shall serve as a model to be replicated in other teaching hospitals too, in addition to providing its services to the elderly patients.
