At least 25 people burnt alive in a shoe factory in Lahore. Five bodies were taken out from the factory while 14 injured were rescued and sent to hospital. The shoe factory is nearby Khokhar Town Band Road Lahore. The rescue team have arrived at the spot and rescue work is underway but fire is not yet under control. The shoe factory is a two story building and according to the reports at least 50 workers were present in the factory.
It has come into our knowledge that someone threw a burning cigarette on the floor nearby chemical stock which eventually resulted in huge fire within seconds. Rescue 1122, Edhi, Police and other teams are on the spot to rescue the workers.
President Pakistan Muslim League-N, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in a fire at a factory on Bund Road. He prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in a fire at a factory on Bund Road. He announced financial assistance of Rs.5 lakh each for the families of the deceased persons and Rs.75 thousand for each injured person as well as free medical assistance. The Chief Minister also constituted a special team headed by Chairman CMIT to hold an inquiry into the incident.
Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khan Khosa showed his grief on the incident and prayed for the departed souls.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Chairman Imran Khan, Vice Chairman PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi, President Javed HashmiSecretary General Dr. Arif Alvi, Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood, Ahsan Rasheed and Mian Mahmood ur Rashid expressed their condolences with the families of the unfortunate victims of the incident in Lahore.
