PTI condemns mismanagement in flood control

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf strongly condemns the mismanagement and lack of precautionary measures taken by the government which has been displayed yet again by the havoc wreaked by heavy monsoon rains leading to floods in Southern Punjab specifically, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajinpur and Tonsa Shareef and other adjoining areas have been severely affected by the rains and thousands of families have been displaced.

This is yet another blatant example of the inefficiency of the Punjab government, since no prior flood warning had been given to the people and water entered their houses in the middle of the night while they slept unaware. Another evidence of their lack of competence and organization can be seen the fact that the armed forces have been called in to intervene and assist. 78 deaths have been reported so far due to these monsoon rains. PTI, Chairmain Imran Khan, condoles with the families of those affected by the floods and stands by them in this hour of hardship.

Monsoon rains are expected every year around this time, and 6 billion fund had been allocated for this cause. Even though MeT had predicted these rains that might lead to subsequent flooding, no corrective measures were taken by the government. According to sources, the administration has not begun any search operation yet. PTI calls for immediate relief actions to be taken in these regions.
