PLG makes sure spray on dengue day

Lahore: Punjab Local government department sent 15 special teams comprising trained staff from town hall today for destroying dengue larva and carrying out spray at all CNG stations and petrol pumps and more than 7000 suspect places for breeding of dengue larva in Lahore. A function was held in this regard. Member Punjab Assembly Aajasum Sharif, Secretary Local Government Khizar Hayyat Gondal, Special Secretary Local Government Dr. Saqib Aziz, Commissioner Lahore Division Jawad Rafiq, Additional Secretary Local Government Raja Jehangir Anwar, Moazam Janjua and Secretary Local Government Board Rizwan Sharif were also present on this occasion.

Member Provincial Assembly Aajasum Sharif said that on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Local government conducted a survey in which 7083 places in junkyards, basements, under construction, vacant and unused buildings were identified for chances of existence and breeding of dengue larva. Local government department has sent 15 special teams to the field by focusing these places.

Secretary Local government Khizar Hayyat Gondal said that these special teams will inspect all CNG stations and petrol pumps in Lahore besides 7083 suspect places and will carry out spray and take other steps for eradication of dengue. He told that entomologists have also been included in these teams and they will perform the duties of pest engineers.

Commissioner Lahore Division Jawad Rafiq told that spray pumps, pesticides in abundance, transport, digital cameras, smart phones and safety kits have been provided to these teams. He told that these teams will destroy the wild bushes and grass from these places.
