PMA condemns poor security arrangements in hospitals

The incidence of the throwing of acid on the on duty nurses of Mayo Hospital emergency ward last night reflects the poor security arrangements at public sector hospitals of Punjab and is a big question mark on the claims of good governance by the Punjab government and Pakistan Medical Association condemns it.

There views were expressed by PMA Central Joint Secretary Dr. Shahid Malik, Dr. M. Tanveer Anwar, Dr. Izhar Ahmed Ch., Dr. M. Ashraf Nizami, Dr. Abrar Ashraf Ali, Dr. Shahid Malik, Dr. Ihsan-ur-Rehman, Dr. Yasmin Ihsan, Dr. Kamran, Dr. Sabahat Habib Khan, Dr. Salman Kazmi in a press statement.

PMA further added that the negligent attitude of the police and health department on the matter was unacceptable. PMA has demanded a high level enquiry probe in the matter and fixing of the responsibility of the security lapse. PMA also demanded of the Punjab Chief Minister to install walk through gates at all emergency wards, provide metal detectors and ban the entry of the unrelated people inside the hospitals.
