Islamabad: called on Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi here today and invited him to attend D-8 Ministerial meeting to be held in October.
Accepting the invitation, the Deputy Prime Minister assured the Bangladesh High Commissioner that a high level delegation from Pakistan will participate in the said meeting.
On this occasion, Ch Parvez Elahi said that the world is fast moving towards regional trade and trade and industrial zones are being established in all regions of the world and Pakistan is also fully aware about trade potentials of the South Asia.
He said Pakistan and Bangladesh are fast emerging economies of the region which provide each other best opportunities for investment and trade markets whereas both the brother Islamic countries are also bound together in the strong bonds of religion and culture. He said resources and problems of both the countries are similar to each other and as such there is dire need for increasing contacts between the two countries for ensuring maximum utilization of resources and solutions of the problems.
The Bangladesh High Commissioner in response to this said that Pakistan has made lot of development in the heavy industry sector and Bangladesh can benefit from the experience of Pakistan in this field. He said there is great demand in his country for “Made in Pakistan”. He said he had taken about 200 Pakistani industrialists to Bangladesh to an industrial exhibition who are keen to make investment there. He further said that there exists a parliamentary friendship forum in his country which is making efforts for parliamentary cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
