Social workers are the assets of the society: Mujtaba Shujaa

Lahore: Minister Education Punjab Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that persons who volunteerly dedicate their lives & resources for social welfare are the assets of the society and government would provide all out cooperation and assistance to such people as well as NGOs. He said that provincial government is providing free medicines, diagnostic and treatment facilities in the public sector hospitals of the province and record funds have been allocated to the health institutions for this purpose.

While talking to the delegation of National Youth Assembly at an Iftar Dinner at Mayo Hospital last night, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman emphasized the need for launching a public awareness campaign regarding social welfare and philanthropists activities.

The Minister said that this century and the next century belongs to Asia just as the last two centuries belong to the West. ‘To take part in this march we have to get our people ready, nearly 70% of our people are under-educated or illiterate’ he observed. He said that youth are future of our nation and we have to provide them latest scientific education and technology. He said that the present era of competition has made the world a global village and only those nations would lead the world as well as compete who will get latest technology and education. He also asked the philanthropists to utilize some amount of their income on welfare oriented activities like education and health so that the children of all the segments of society could be provided basic facilities of health and education.
