Lahore:Iqbal Chaudhry was re-elected as the President while other Dost Panel candidates also defeated their rivals in the annual election 2012-13 of the Photo Journalists Association of the Lahore Press Club held here today.
Iqbal Chaudhry bagged 40 votes to be elected as the new President of the photo journalists’ body while his opponent Sadqat Mughul got 26 votes. Akmal Bhatti also of Dost Panel got 37 votes and his rival Waseem Niaz polled 27 votes for the post of the General Secretary. Omar Sharif got 35 votes and was elected as the Senior Vice-President while his rival Zubair Mahfooz got 28 votes.
Dost Panel’s Imran Shaikh was elected as the Secretary Finance and Jamil Shaikh as Secretary Information by bagging 36 and 34 votes respectively. Their rivals for the post of Secretary Finance Afzal got 26 votes and for the office of the Secretary Information Mansoor Ahmad secured 30 votes.
All Dost Panel candidates for the Governing Body were also elected by defeating their closest rivals. The successful members of the Governing Body included Tahir Mahmud Moodi, Pervaiz Altaf, Arif Najmi, Ovais Bobby, Abid Nawaz and Muhammad Kaleem.
After securing thumping success in the election, newly-elected President Iqbal Chaudhry expressed to all the colleagues through whose hard work and efforts he has been re-elected President of the body. He pledged to continue working hard in a determined and committed manner, as before, for solving the problems of the Photo Journalists Association. He also thanked President of the Press Club Arshad Ansari, Election Commissioner Imtiaz Rashed and Rafiq Khan for their untiring efforts in holding the election quite successfully.
