Lahore:Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that up to 18 hours load-shedding in Punjab is a result of vindictive thinking of Asif Zardari against the people of the province which the whole nation strongly condemns. He said that on the orders of Mr. Zardari 700 megawatt electricity produced in Punjab is being sent outside the province. He said that power crisis is badly affecting industry, agriculture, health, education and other sectors while the cancellation of export orders is also causing irreparable loss to economy.
He was talking to media-men at Azadi Chowk during inspection of metro bus service project here today. Assembly Members and government officers were present on this occasion. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that an unjust attitude is being shown to Punjab with regard to load-shedding against which the people have risen in protest while he himself is also on the roads and raising his voice against the injustice being committed to the people of Punjab. He said that peaceful protest is the right of the people however they should not damage public property as it is a national asset and its protection is a collective responsibility. He said that federal government has not implemented the decision of uniform load-shedding in the country and the discriminatory treatment to Punjab should now come to an end. He said that metro bus service is a unique project in the history of the country and every effort should be made for its completion during the current year. He said that it is also being ensured that the flow of traffic is not affected by the construction work so that the citizens should not face any difficulty. He said that metro bus service project is for the masses and will provide a great relief to them as the traffic system will improve. He said that the problems being faced by the people due to this project are temporary while the relief and benefits on the completion of the project will be lasting.
