People are being lathi charged in “Khadam-e-A’ala”Ramzan Bazars:Ch Pervaiz Elahi

Lahore:Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi presided over a high level meeting which reviewed the Ramzan Package at the Utility Stores throughout the country at the State Guest House here today.
Talking to media people afterwards, Ch Parvez Elahi expressed satisfaction that pretty larger number of people are benefitting from the Ramzan Package at the Utility Stores this year as compared to the last year. He said the Utility Stores all over the country are providing relief to the people through good quality items at subsidized rates as compared to the open market whereas in Punjab, the people complaining against higher prices of articles in the Razam Bazars of “Khadam-e-A’ala” are being lathi -charged.

He said that good quality of articles with comparatively low prices at the Utility Stores would be maintained which has resulted in increased sale at these outlets adding that the Razam Bazars of the Punjab Govt are giving a deserted look due to higher prices and mismanagement.

He said that a Cell has been established, headed by Advisor to the Prime Minister Basharat Raja, for monitoring of the working of the Utility Stores and removing of grievances of the people. He said that the Ministers, Parliamentarians and party leaders have been asked to visit the Utility Stores and monitor their working and ensuring better service to the people. He said that he himself would also surprise visits to the Utility Stores.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that there would be no compromise on quality of all items including flour (atta). He said that during his meeting with the owners of the flour mills today, he has made this very clear to them that any mill supplying substandard atta would be blacklisted forever.

He announced that the employees of the Utility Stores would be given one month bonus on successful execution of the Ramzan Package through better, improved and good services to the people.
Replying to questions, the Deputy Prime Minister said that giving more discount in purchasing articles from the Utility Stores to the TB patients and Benazir Income Support Programme card holders is being examined.
He said that availability in substantial quantity of all items of every Utility Store should be ensured and people should be able to purchase items of their requirements.
He further directed that decision to keep the Utility Stores open on holidays and increasing the timing for the customers should be strictly enforced and warned that no let up would be tolerated in this regard.
The meeting was attended by the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Industries Muhammad Basharat Raja, Ch Zaheeruddin Khan, Sardar Asif Nakai, Dr Samia Amjad, Seemal Kamran, Sameena Khawar Hayat, Shahana Farooqui, Khadeeja Farooqui, Syeda Majida Zaidi, Bushra Nawaz Gardezi, Engineer Shahzad Elahi, Managing Director Utility Stores Corporation Major General (retd) Malik Muhammad Farooq and USC Zonal Managers from all over the country among others.
