substandard flour sale continues in Ramzan Bazars

Lahore:According to the spokesman of Provincial Food Department, 600 samples of flour from Ramzan Bazaars and open markets were collected and sent to laboratory for analysis during the first 8-days of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak. Samples of 37 Flour Mills were found substandard and a fine of six lakh rupees was imposed besides their quota was stopped for two to ten days. Two flour mills were closed after cancellation of their license, he added.

According to the spokesman, Provincial Food Department and District Administration are ensuring provision of flour in Ramzan Bazaars and open markets on fixed rates. Food Department Punjab has evolved a special code for maintaining quality of flour during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak and samples of flour are being sent for analysis to the laboratories of Food Department at Joharabad, Bahawalpur and Lahore. The spokesman further informed that the weight of flour is also being checked on daily basis.
