DCO Lahore, Noor-ul-Amin Mengal has said that the government stands committed to providing relief to the masses come what may. He said that no one will be allowed to make overcharging apart from the sale of substandard essential items in the Ramazan bazaars. He further said that the price control committees set up by the CDGL were playing their active role by maintaining the continuity of supply and stability in prices at Ramazan bazaars. He also informed that strict notice has been taken of some of the complaints about the supply of substandard flour to various Ramazan bazaars under which strict directions have been issued to DO, Food to seal flour mills involved in malpractices. DCO said that as regards the slight decrease in prices of fruit and vegetables were concerned strict monitoring was being made in the bidding process at wholesale market level and the checking system of cold storages had been improved to curb the hoarding. He said that the classification of top and second grade regarding fruit and vegetables had been finished at Ramazan bazaars so that there could be no cheating in the prices of fruit and vegetables. He further said that instructions had also been issued to Incharge officers to maintain the high quality of edible items at the Ramazan bazaars.
