Lahore:Price checking in the city has been accelerated to ensure provision of essential items at control rate. It was stated by the District Coordination officer Noor-ul-Amin Mengal in a meeting with price magistrates here. DCO told that at least 50 shopkeepers have been sent to Jail on violation of Price Act and Rs.0.634m fine imposed on 616 shopkeepers on minor charges.
The DCO warned miscreants of grave consequences if they would continue to exploit the poor people during holy Ramadan. DCO expressed satisfaction over lowering of prices in a few days which owed to the steps taken by CDGL. It was further told by DCO that 0.155m kg of subsidized sugar and 0.151m bags of 10 kg wheat flour have been sold in Ramadan bazaars so far.
