Lahore:The unannounced and unending loadshedding in sweltering heat of July has forced citizens to take to roads in protest against menace of loadshedding.
Lahore is facing 3 to 4 hours’ consecutive loadshedding in some areas due to which residents of Chohan Road at Band Road area staged protest and blocked road by burning tyres.
On the other hand the distribution companies seem to have failed in removing the technical faults.
In Gujranwala residents are facing 16 to 18 hours’ loadshedding in urban and 18 to 20 hours’ power outages in rural areas.
The citizens staged a sit-in near the Commissioner’s House and blocked traffic. PML-N MNA Mahmood Bashir Virk joined the protestors when he was trapped in the traffic.
In Interior Sinsh protest against loadshedding was held in Kandiaro on the appeal of Jiye Sindh Qaumi Movement (JSQM). All markets and shops remained closed during the protest.
Loadshedding duration in Multan has increased as 50 transformers have gone out of order.
The overall electricity demand in the country is 18,400 megawatts while shortfall has reached to 4,300 megawatts.
