Lahore:In the wake of recent terror attacks in Lahore and Gujrat, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman reached Sheikhupura today in the third leg of his tour to finalise a new and comprehensive security strategy.
Addressing a high-level meeting at the office of the District Police Officer (DPO) Sheikhupura, the IGP stressed upon the officers that they would have to fight against the crimes and terrorism simultaneously. The police chief also said that the officers would have to play their key role on both the fronts in order to eradicate crimes and to provide protection to the lives and property of the citizens.
RPO Sheikhupura Zulifqar Ahmed Cheema, DPO Sheikhupura Dr Haider Ashraf, DPO Nankana Syed Ashfaq Noor, and DPO Kasur Khurum Ali also attended the meeting.
The provincial police chief emphasized that the strong police action has left the criminals with no other option but to flee from the Punjab province. Similarly, the police would tighten its screw around the terrorists and they would be on the run shortly.
The IGP directed the Field Officers to step up armed patrolling in the areas and enhance the security arrangements around the police posts to keep a vigilant eye on the activities of the miscreants. The field officers were directed to intensify snap-checking and physical search of the motorists and motorcyclists.
Meanwhile, IGP Punjab awarded cash prizes and commendatory certificates among the honest and hardworking policemen of the Sheikhupura Region.
On this occasion, the IGP paid rich tributes to RPO Sheikhupura, Zulifqar Ahmed Cheema, for his outstanding services and said that the other police officers should follow his footsteps in order to root-out crimes from the society
