We are near to the attackers:IGP Haji Habib ur Rehman

Lahore:Lahore: The provincial police chief said that investigations are underway into the recent terror incidents, which took place in Gujrat and Babu Sabu interchange Lahore. The IGP said that there was a positive development in the investigations into these cases as the police got some clues and evidences that would help police unearth the criminals involved in terror attacks.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab Haji Habib-ur-Rehman while addressing a ceremony held in honour of police officers of Sargodha Region for showing extraordinary performance at Central Police Office today.
Additional IG-Punjab Malik Khuda Bukhsh Awan, Additional-IG (Welfare and Finance) Sarmad Saeed, Additional-IG (R&D) Anwar Virk, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sargodha Amjad Javed Saleemi, DPO Sargodha Dr Muhammad Rizwan, DPO Khushab Muhammad Azhar Akram, DPO Bhakkar Rai Ijaz Ahmed, and DPO Mianwali Muhammad Zubair Dreshak also attended the ceremony.
Speaking on this occasion, the provincial police chief said timing of both the incidents and the vehicles used in these gun attacks are similar. The police chief said that the police are directed to remain on high-alert round-the-clock and effective armed patrolling would be ensured particularly in the wee hours across the Punjab province.
The Police are implementing preventive policing strategy in order to eradicate terrorism and to control the crimes so that any untoward incident could be thwarted before happening.
The IGP has also extended the deadline for the overweight police officers and directed the officers/officials to reduce their waist-line to the required standard till July 31, 2012. The police chief also infirmed that a one-month Weight Reducing Course is being launched from August 1st at all the training centers in the Punjab province in order to reduce the waist-line of the policemen.
Later, the provincial police chief awarded a cash prize of Rs 100,000 and commendatory certificate to RPO Sargodha and cash prizes of Rs 50,000 and an appreciation letter to each District Police Officer (DPO) of Sargodha range.
