District administration ensure implementation on reduced fares:Mujtaba Shuja

Lahore:Minister Transport Punjab, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur- Rehman has said that government of the Punjab in consequent upon the recent reduction in fuel prices, has enforced the new rates of fares for the Stage Carriages, (Non AC) Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) on inter-city and intra-city (urban) routes with immediate effects. He asked the district administration, District Regional Authorities and traffic police officials to make sure the implementation of charging of new fares both on inter-city and intra-city routes.

Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman told that on inter-city routes, the maximum new fares are Rs. 1.00 per passenger per kilometer for diesel / petrol vehicle whereas, 87 paisas for CNG vehicle at Metalled Plain Roads, new fare for Plain Kacha Roads Rs. 1.05 for diesel / petrol and 92 paisas for CNG transport and on Hilly Roads (notified by C&W department) Rs. 1.10 for diesel / petrol and 97 paisas for CNG transport per passenger per kilometer.

The Minister told that Punjab government has also enforced the following fares for (Non AC) Public Transport Playing on intra-city routes. While giving details of the revised fare are Non-AC Intra-City Transport (buses, mini buses, station wagons & Suzuki vans), Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman told that, at the first stage fare from 0 to 4km for Diesel fuel transport is fixed Rs. 14/- whereas for CNG fuel transport, the fare will be Rs. 13/-, from 4.1 to 8 km Rs. 19/- and Rs. 18/- will be charged for diesel fuel and CNG fuel transport respectively, from 8.1 to 14km Rs. 24/- for Diesel fuel and Rs. 23/- for CNG fuel transport, 14.1 to 22km Rs. 28/- for Diesel fuel and Rs. 26/- for CNG fuel, 22.1 to 30km Rs. 33/- for Diesel fuel and Rs. 31/- for CNG fuel transport, whereas, from 30.1km to above Rs. 38/- and Rs. 36/- will be charged for Diesel fuel transport and CNG fuel transport respectively. He told that Transport Department has issued formal notification in this regard which will be enforced with immediate effect. No one will be allowed to charge extra fare and strict action under law will be taken against the violators, the Minister concluded.
