MNA suspended for dual-nationality

Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan has suspended People’s Party MNA Zahid Iqbal from NA 162 Sahiwal membership for keeping dual nationality.

The Supreme Court has also sent the court order of the suspension of the PPP member National Assembly to the Speaker for implementation of it. Earlier, three-member SC bench under the CJP Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry heard the case. In another case, PML-N MNA Jameel Awan has admitted having double nationality in the court, while Tariq Lone has denied the accusation and has sought more time for explanation.
Those who did not appear in the court despite notices include Farhat Mehmood Khan, Nadia Gabol, Wasim Qadir, Ashraf Chohan and Nadeem Khadim.
The hearing of the case was put off to the next Monday.
