Judges to adhere timing:Chief Justice LHC

Lahore:Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Mr. Justice Umar Ata Bandial has ordered strict observance of court timings in the judicial hierarchy of the Province. Major emphasis has been laid on the district judiciary which is the backbone of the judicial system.

A communiqué issued by Abdul Sattar, Member Inspection Team, addressed to all the District & Sessions Judges, in the Punjab states that in order to ensure discipline and improvement in the system of administration of justice, the Hon’ble Chief Justice has directed that henceforth under the direct supervision of District & Sessions Judge posted in each district, daily attendance sheet shall be maintained/prepared in a confidential manner, in which the timings of check-in and check-out of all the Judicial Officers as well as the officials of the Courts shall be noted down. For this purpose some reliable official of the District Courts establishment be assigned the task. Such attendance sheet be reviewed at the end of the day by the District & Sessions Judge and in case of need correctional steps be taken under intimation to the Lahore High Court, the letter concludes.

Separately, the Hon’ble Chief Justice has also designed a dual monitoring mechanism by the Chief Justice Secretariat. At 08:00 A.M. an officer checks the attendance of any one district daily telephonically to ensure that judicial work at the district courts starts on time. Today attendance of Judges and staff of Faisalabad district was enquired while timing of judiciary of Kasur district was checked yesterday and found satisfactory.
