Meeting for beautifing Lahore

Lahore:Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the provincial metropolis is being beautified through horticulture and landscaping so that citizens can enjoy a natural and beautiful environment and in this connection, 24 roads of Lahore city have been declared as model roads on which horticulture work has been started.

He expressed these views while presiding over a high level meeting held in connection with beautification of Lahore city at tent office Minar-e-Pakistan. The meeting was attended by Members Provincial Assembly, Director General LDA, Commissioner and District Coordination Officer Lahore and Director General PHA. The DG PHA informed the meeting about the pace of work on horticulture projects in Lahore. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that citizens of Lahore are being provided a natural environment through horticulture whereas PHA is vigorously striving to make various roads and development projects more beautiful and captivating through landscaping. He said that flyovers and overhead bridges have been made attractive through flowers and beautiful plants. The Chief Minister said that, during monsoon season, as many as 3000 fruit plants would be sown at Canal Road which will not only add beauty to the atmosphere but would also provide food to the birds. He said that benches have also been placed at various locations at the Canal Road for the convenience of the general public. The Chief Minister said that along the green belt on Multan Road, a gymnasium would also be set up for the youth so that they can keep themselves fit and healthy. He further stated that provincial government has paid special attention to the backward localities of the city so that their standard of living can also be improved like the rest of the areas of the city.

The Chief Minister informed the meeting that provincial government has chalked out a plan to construct five ladies parks where women would be provided various facilities in a protected environment. He announced that a state-of-the-art sports complex would be constructed at Doongi Ground Samanabad.
