LAHORE – The City’s Operations Police Chief on Wednesday reprimanded divisional SP’s on several complaints of motorbike snatching which had no details at police pickets in the Punjab Capital.
The DIG also suspended three policemen deployed at pickets on negligence and censured several others on the same charges. He issued show cause notices to Nawankot, Iqbal Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Hanjerwal, Civil Lines and Muslim Town on their lethargic attitude in monitoring security arrangements around banks and other sensitive areas. DIG, Muhammad Tahir Roy personally supervised the police-picket setup at different areas of the City and found ASI Muhammad Arshad, SI Imran and a head constable Saeed, guilty of taking money from motorists for checking. As a result of which, all three officers have been suspended.
SP (Headquarters) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera has been ordered to conduct a departmental inquiry. The DIG further showed his strong displeasure towards SHO’s and issued them show cause notices on their poor monitoring system. He, however, awarded cash prizes to officers for better performance.
