Mandi Bahauddin (Sher Gondal ) : Ex-servicemen from Chakwal and neighboring districts gathered at Kallar Kahar in hundreds the other day and under the arrangement of Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS) Chakwal took up a rally that marched from there to Dlailpur village, demanding justice for ex-SSG Commando Naik Arshad who was viciously slain by a despicable police party led by an ASI of Choa Saiden Shah Police in his house, during the month of Ramadan on midnight 4/5 May the previous month.
Naik Arshad deceased had no charge against him and was innocent. His offense was just that he was a whistleblower against the corruption of some police personnel. Lt Gen Haroon Islam, ex SSG Pak Army led the rally. The rally ended at the graveyard of Dlailpur village where the General placed the wreath on the grave of the deceased and offered Fatiha.
While addressing the rally, he said ex-servicemen had great respect for all national institutions including police and he believed in their integrity, competence, and patriotism. However, like other departments, police also have black sheep and corrupt elements in it.
He said ex-servicemen strongly condemn those policemen who committed the gruesome and tragic murder of Naik Arshad in front of his wife and small kids after entering the house without any arrest or search warrant. “This is unbearable and we will go to any limit for getting justice for the deceased and his family”, he added.
PESS SVP Major General Javed Akhtar Tahir and Secretary-General Colonel Naseem Raja also addressed the gathering and demanded an honest and transparent investigation of the murder case. It may be mentioned that at the time of incidence DPO Chakwal promised to arrange judicial inquiry and do complete justice to provide relief to the bereaved family.
However, he did not stand to his words and gave false color to the incident of police encounter to save his subordinate police personnel involved in the murder of the ex-commando. Despite repeated requests police have not registered FIR so far.
