Siraj ul Haq welcomes NAB Chairman decisions

Lahore : Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has welcomed the decision of the high level meeting of the NAB presided over by the NAB Chairman, to dispose of cases of mega corruption and white collar crime.

In a statement here on Thursday, he however said that such claims were also made by the NAB many a time in the past but the nation now wanted their quick implementation.

The JIP chief said that as many 150 files of mega corruption were lying with the NAB awaiting decisions. He said there had been much hue and cry about the off shore companies and tall claims of action against 436 people named in the Panama leaks were also made However, the nation was still awaiting the outcome.

Explaining JI’s view of accountability, Sirajul Haq said the Jamaat e Islami firmly believed that till the time the accountability of the mafias and the corrupt people in the government was completed, no case of big corruption could be decided. He said that the JI had given the raised the slogan of
“Accountability of All. He said that if today, Prime Minister Imran Khan presented himself and his cabinet ministers for accountability, nobody else would object to his accountability.

Sirajul Haq said that NAB itself had a great role in making the accountability process controversial. He said that neither the decision of any big corruption scandal had come to the fore till now nor even a penny of the billions of dollars of the plundered wealth or the huge amounts lying in foreign abroad had been recovered.

The JI Chief further said that Pakistan had achieved nuclear status 22 years ago but the nation had not given the nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan the respect he deserved. He said that Dr A.Q. Khan and his team could do a lot for strengthening the national defense, economy and energy sector.
However, he said, that instead of acknowledging his services and providing him opportunities to serve the nation in some other fields, Dr A.Q. Khan was detained only to please the enemies of the country.

Sirajul Haq expressed his concern over the reports that the land mafia had occupies the land of the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme. He said this proved that some leading members of the land mafia were in the government who believed that the grip of law would not reach them.
