Lahore : Ameer Jamaat e Islami Pakistan Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the government had not given attention to the problems of the traders and small businessmen while easing lock down and opening businesses for four days a week. He was talking to a delegation of traders from Rawalpindi and Islamabad which called on him in the federal capital on Wednesday.
The delegation apprised him of their problems and also put forward their suggestions for the solution of these problems and to benefit the consumers. The JI chief said that the government had announced different relief packages but the traders and small businessmen had not received anything so far.
Similarly, he said, the traders and small business men had not benefitted from the relief announced on electricity bills. He said that the government had played a trick by dropping the shops having three phase electricity meters from the list.
He further said that the government had provided no relief for the employees of shops and small businesses. Traders leaders Kashif Chaudhry suggested to the government to allow businessmen to open their shops for 24 hours to reduce rush of customers. As an alternative, he said, different traders be allowed to open their business on different days.
The JI chief said the government was putting undue pressure on the traders to control the customers because this was the responsibility of the stat e institutions. He said that before ea sing lock down, the government should have set up committees with the consultation of traders, for the implementation of the SOPs.
