Punjab Government extended lock down to 9 May

Lahore : Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Budzar has said that decision of extending the lockdown has been made with collective consultation as it is imperative to stop the further spread of coronavirus.

In a statement issued here on Friday, he said the decision has been made to extend lockdown in Punjab till May 09. Permission has been granted to open the milk and yoghurt shops, karyana stores, tandoors and bakeries during sehri timing from 2 am to 4 pm. However, collective sehri and iftaar feasts will be banned during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, he added.

Meanwhile, grocery stores, karyana stores, departmental stores and supermarkets (only grocery, fruit and vegetable sections) will remain open from 9 am to 5 pm.

Moreover, opticians’ shops, bakeries, pesticides shops, seeds and fertilizer shops and auto workshops will remain open from 9 am to 5 pm, he said. Agri. machinery workshops, spare-parts shops and vendors will be allowed working during fixed timings.

He told that milk and yoghurt shops, poultry and chicken-meat shops will remain open from 9 am to 8 pm. Public transport will remain closed and markets, shopping malls, restaurants and government and private offices will also remain closed. However, medical stores and pharmacies will remain open, he said. Implementation on 20 points announcement for Masajid will be ensured and local level committees will monitor implementation on SOPs for Masajid.

The citizens are needed to remain careful in Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and compliance of governmental decisions is in their own interest, he concluded.
