Lahore : For the first time training of teachers at Post Graduate Medical Institute and Ameer Uddin Medical has been started which is resulting in improving the medical education and providing better facilities to the patients as well.
Moreover, the research work of the senior doctors and quality improvement has resulted in getting better ranking by Lahore General Hospital. This was disclosed by the Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Ameer Uddin Medical College while addressing the Annual Convocation here today.
Ex-Dean of PGMI, Professor of Emirates and renowned Gynecologist Prof. Dr. Rashid Lateef was the chief guest while Chairman Board of Management Shahab Khawaja, Acting VC UHS Dr. Shagufta Khalid, faculty members, MS Dr. Mahmud Salah Uddin, Principals of different Medical Colleges, Professors, students and their parents in large number where the Organizing Secretary of the Convocation Prof. Dr. Najam ul Hasnain present the welcome address.
In this Convocation 175 medical students were awarded with degrees while 65 medals were distributed. First position holders were also given gold medals by the Professors of the College from their own pocket. Dr. Ayesha Riaz belonging to a poor family of Kasur got 14 gold medals from AMC and best graduate of the year.
Addressing the Convocation, Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Rashid Lateef said that this day has great significance for the parents as well whose dream has been proved true by seeing their children in the white coat as the doctor. He said that these degrees should be utilized for the service of the ailing humanity and including female all students should come in the practical field to work for the needy ones.
Prof. Dr. Rashid Lateef expressed determination that our doctors are not behind from any other country and can prove their abilities at the international level as well.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Tayyab said that it is 2nd Convocation of Ameer Uddin Medical College and 8th of Post Graduate Medical Institute while this day would be a milestone for the students and the fruit of their hard work has materialized. He said that real credit of this success goes to the faculty members who have proven their abilities to shape up these youngsters.
Talking to the media, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Tayyab said that MBBS graduates of this institute have been given paid house jobs at Lahore General Hospital where they serve the patients practically. He said that here at Post Graduate Medical Institute not only from Pakistan but from abroad students study and then work in international organizations.
He congratulated all the students on getting degrees and expressed hope that they would continue their services for the general public in the coming days.
