Lahore : Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that there was a crisis in media industry and journalist community was passing through difficult times.
She said 85 percent of total advertisements to media houses were contributed by private sector and the government’s share was just about 10 to 15 percent.
The SAPM said, a consensus had been evolved among all stakeholders and the things were moving towards release of payments in tranches.
Dr Firdous said some journalists were protesting against their media houses over non-payment of salaries for several months and demanding that funds should be issued to media outlets with the condition of ensuring payment of journalists’ salaries. She said the government was evolving a mechanism under which payment of salaries to journalists would be ensured while clearing pendency of media industry.
