Religious parties announced protest on action against madrasahs

Lahore : The Milli Yakjehti Council, a conglomeration of religious parties, has announced that the nation would resist with full force any government move against the madrasahs, the mosques and the pulpit under the colonial powers pressure.

A meeting of the MYC executive body held at Mansoora warned that any restrictions on madrassas and mosques would create chaos in the society. The meeting counseled the government to give up anti Islam attitude. It also urged the government not to yield to international pressure for recognizing Israel.

The meeting was chaired by MYC Secretary General Liaqat Baloch. Those who attended included Pir Syed Haroon Gilani, Syed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Prof. Abdur Rehman Makki, Allama  Arif Hussain Wahidi, Hafiz Abdul Ghaffar Ropri, Khawaja  Moeen Ud din Koreja, Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Pir Ghulam Rasool Awaisi Ameer, JIP, Senator Sirajul Haq, also attended the meeting.

MYC Secretary General, while addressing a prèss conference after the meeting, said that the PTI which had been talking of the state of Madina, was practically moving in the opposite direction and was framing laws in conflict with the Islamic teachings. He said the religious forces of the country rejected such decisions and demanded of the rulers to give up their anti Islam behavior.

Liaqat Baloch said that at present, Pakistan was confronted with the worst economic and ideological crisis in its history.  The enemy was attacking the country from all sides and there were conspiracies to play with the country’s ideology by fanning non issues. He said that in such a situation, the parliament and the national leadership would have to play its role or the country would suffer irreparable loss.

He said the MYC wanted supremacy of the constitution. It also desired that all the missing persons be recovered. He said that NAB should carry out an across the board accountability. However, he said the NAB was being used to harass the political opponents. He said that such government policies were creating hatred for the federation in the provinces   

Liaqat Baloch said that the government was placing unlawful restrictions on the donations for the madrasahs. The madrissahs were being asked to name their supporters and these supporters were being harassed. However, on the other hand, the Higher Education Commission was forcing the universities to seek donations from the public. He called for allocation of five per cent of total revenue for education with special allocations for madrasas.

He said the government attitude of harassing the those teaching the Quran and Sunnah was intolerable. He said the madrissahs were already submitting their audit reports to the government.

The MYC parties made a joint appeal to the  television channels to stop the programmes being televised in the name of Ramazan transmissions. They said the presentation of Islam for show bizz was creating mental waywardness in the society.  The meeting decided to send a delegation to the owners of the TV channels to present their demands in this regard.
