309 Ramzan Bazaars have been established in Punjab : Mian Aslam Iqbal

Lahore : Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that 309 Ramzan Bazaars have been established in the whole province where the essential items are being provided to the consumers at the prices of Ramzan Bazaars of 2018. Price control committees at provincial and districts level has also been constituted and 1057 price control magistrate appointed to monitor the Ramzan Bazaars.

Provincial minister expressed these views while addressing a press conference regarding Ramzan Bazaars at DGPR office here today. Secretary Industries Tahir Khursheed will also present on this occasion.

Provincial Ministers, advisors, members of provincial assembly and secretaries will also monitored the Ramzan Bazaars. All the means will be utilized for the monitoring of Ramzan Bazaars and if any complaint came strict action will be taken against the responsible. The recent increase of petroleum products prices will not affect the prices of essential items being provided at Ramzan Bazaars and government bear this load.

Provincial Minister said the purpose of establishing Ramazan Bazaars is to provide relief to the common man and in future, we are also planning to deliver “Rashan Bags” at the door steps of such persons who cannot come Ramazan Bazaars for buying essential items.

He said that from 21 Ramzan, these Ramzan Bazaars will be converted into Eid Ramzan Bazaars where such items will be added that are used on the occasion of Eid and these items will be also be provided at subsidized rates.

Giving the comparison of prices, Provincial Minister has said that the potato was sold on the price of Rs. 12 per Kg in Ramzan Bazaars of 2018 and the same price is today. Similarly, onion was sold on Rs. 23 per Kg in 2018 and the same price is today. Sugar is being sold at the rate of Rs. 55 per Kg and bag of flour of 10 Kg is available at the rate of Rs. 290 in Ramzan Bazaars and mobile units. Dates are being sold at the rate of 175 per Kg and quality Ghee is being sold at the less rate of Rs. 15 per Kg and chicken meat is available at less price of Rs. 10 per Kg. other essential items including fruits, pulses and vegetables are also being sold at the subsidized rates.

He said that during the last government, benefit of subsidy enjoyed the owners of the mills while we are giving the target subsidy to the common man. He said that no compromise will be made on the quality, availability and prices of the essential items. He said that government has also made price app where consumers can complain which will be redressed within two hours.

He said that Chief Minister is himself monitoring the situation and commissioners and deputy commissioners will apprise the CM through video link meeting on the daily basis. He said that PTI government is stand by common man and we will provide every relief to him living within our resources. Earlier, Provincial Minister visited various Ramzan Bazaars established in Lahore and reviewed the prices, quality and availability of the essential items.

Provincial Minister expressed his anger over the long queue of consumers at various stalls and directed to increase the number of workers so that consumers can easily buy the items.
