Lahore : Punjab Safe Cities Authority is a national security project and its data is absolutely secure as per globally followed standards. There are no threats to the security of the project. The system was continuously checked by our consultants, including reputed firms from the UK.
Punjab Safe City Authority reiterates that there are no backdoors in PSCA infrastructure by Huawei. BBC has not provided our stance in the video they have released which is misleading for the viewers.
The project has been implemented with dedicated efforts and there are no Wi-Fi cards in the cabinets for any purposes. Even if it was a provision for future business benefits, as expressed by cybersecurity official interviewed by BBC, it was not accepted and cards were removed by the Huawei due to vigilant oversight by PSCA management.
As mentioned by BBC itself, Huawei and other companies may have such options but PSCA directed to remove any such Wi-Fi cards which show better supervision structure and practices of Punjab Safe Cities Authority. While publishing story about Huawei, creating doubts and speculations about the security of public safety infrastructure was not expected from a reputed organization like BBC.
PSCA takes strict action for any persons who are involved in any way to harm the national security infrastructure or reputation of public sector entities.
