Lahore : Lahore, with 160 points, won 2nd Quaid-i-Azam Wushu Cup at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall on Wednesday. Gujranwala remained runners up with 70 points while Rawalpindi finished third with 65 points. The 2-day exciting event was organised under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab (SBP).
Punjab Sports Minister Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti was the chief guest at the colourful closing ceremony. He also distributed prizes among the leading position holders of wushu and darts competitions. Divisional Sports Officer Nadeem Qaiser presented a souvenir to Punjab Sports Minister Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti on this occasion. Young performers offered attractive performances at the prize distribution ceremony.
Punjab Sports Minister Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti was warmly received upon his arrival at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall. Divisional Sports Officer Nadeem Qaiser, DSO Tanveer Shah, top wushu officials and large number of wushu and darts officials were also present on this occasion.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Punjab Sports Minister Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti lauded the performance of young wushu players. “Young boys and girls won the hearts of audience through their magnificent performances. They showed excellent skills”.
Punjab Sports Minister Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said: “Punjab govt is planning to host Punjab Games and Pakistan Dangal competition this year. Apart from this, Punjab govt will also host three episodes of 7-Game Coaching and Training camps in the remaining period of on-going year,” he revealed.
“Wushu is an emerging game in Pakistan and it is quite popular among the young generation of the country. The participation of players from all nine divisions reflected the great passion of youth in this game. Punjab is blessed with massive wushu potential and Punjab govt will continue its endeavours to nurture this valuable talent”.
It may be mentioned here that Secretary Sports Punjab Nadeem Mehboob inaugurated the 2nd Quaid-i-Azam Wushu Cup at a colourful opening ceremony at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall on Tuesday night. Talking to media at the opening ceremony, Secretary Sports Punjab Nadeem Mehboob said Punjab govt is striving hard for the promotion of all games across the province.
