DG Sports Nadeem Sarwar distribute cash rewards among Punjab women hockey team

Lahore : Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said immense hard work is required for regaining lost glory in hockey in the country. Pakistan will have to adopt modern techniques for the actual revival of hockey; he expressed these views at Punjab women hockey team’s cash award ceremony at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

It’s worth mentioning that Punjab women hockey team clinched silver medal in 30th National Women Hockey Championship.

Punjab Hockey Association Secretary Asif Naz Khokhar, Punjab Women Hockey President Abida Tanveer, Punjab Women Hockey Secretary Rahat Khan, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Directors Tariq Wattoo, Shahid Nizami, Assistant Director Zahoor Ahmed, women sports official Kanwal Khan, Punjab Women coach Chand Perveen, Punjab women team manager Ms Talat Lubna, Coach M Pervaiz and a large number of media personnel were also present on this occasion.

Addressing the women hockey players cash award ceremony, Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said the game of hockey has changed a lot in the 21^st century. “Now it has become imperative for any nation to learn modern hockey techniques if they want to earn a respectable place among world hockey community. Similarly, Pakistan is also required to adopt modern hockey technique and appoint those coaches who are laced with latest hockey skills”.

Regarding cash prizes DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said it’s just beginning. Sports Board Punjab will offer more rewards for outstanding performances in future.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar also announced stipend for all women hockey players. “The players with exceptional performances will be given regular monthly stipend,” he added.

He said the talented players are our true heroes and we are proud of them. “Punjab govt will continue to support and encourage national sports heroes,” he added.

Punjab Women Hockey President Abida Tanveer and Secretary Rahat Khan paid rich tributes to DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar for his sincere efforts for the promotion of hockey in the province. “Sports Board Punjab under the leadership of DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar is taking magnificent measures for the growth of sports culture,” they said.

The women hockey players and officials also had photographs with DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar on this occasion.
