Lahore : Deputy Ambassador of Nederland to Pakistan Josephine Frantzen called on Provincial Minister HR&MA Ijaz Alam Augustine along Parliamentarians at a private hotel on Monday. Issues regarding rights of Minorities and constitute a Parliamentary Committee to protect Human Rights discussed in details.
The provincial minister apprised the Nederland Ambassador of the measures taken by Punjab government for the welfare of minorities including promotion and protection of equal human rights, peace, tolerance and religious harmony.
The parliamentarians briefed to the Ambassador that they planned to constitute a committee in which representation of all parties in the Punjab Assembly being assured to make more effective legislation in the assembly and make possible implementation of previous legislation to protect rights of human especially for minorities.
Nederland Ambassador appreciated the measures taken by Punjab government for the protection of human rights and hoped the role of parliamentarians will be more effective to promote peace and awareness in the society. Parliamentarians Sadia Sohail Rana, Haroon Gill, Khalil Tahir Sandhu, Sumera Ahmed and Sajid Cristofer were present in the meeting.
